November 4, 2009 – Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono has given some strong hints in past interviews that Super Street Fighter IV would feature a return of a long lost element of the Street Fighter experience, the between-match bonus stage. Today, we got word via Famitsu that the bonus stages are indeed making a triumphant return.

The magazine provides a look at two bonus stages. One requires that you beat up on a car. The other requires that you take out falling barrels. Of course, SFII fans should be instantly familiar with these, although perhaps not through SFIV’s HD visual engine.

Outside of the bonus stage info, the magazine shares first details on some of the improvements players can expect from the game’s new online system. As previously indicated by Ono in interviews, Super’s online play is being beefed up. New modes include a Team Battle Mode for anything between 2on2 and 4on4 fights, and an Endless Battle Mode for eight. The game will also include a Replay Channel, allowing you to view replays and save your favorites to your hard disk.

Capcom also has more content planed post release, including a downloadable Tournament Mode.

Super Street Fighter IV is still on track for a Spring 2010 worldwide release.
